    DPT Faculty Accomplishments – January
            
	Katherine D. Myers, PT, DPT, was selected to receive a 2024 Adopt-A-Doc award. The award recognizes her dedication to the profession of physical therapy and the education of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. 
	
        
    Third-year DPT Students Publish Independent Study
            Third-year DPT students Natalie Hosmer and Miles Moore's independent study, "Effects of Ball Size and Weight on Throwing Kinematics and Kinetics in Youth Baseball Athletes," was recently published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. 
        
    New Study Published in Neurological Research
            A new study was published entitled “Optimization of a translational murine model of closed-head traumatic brain injury” in Neurological Research by Dr. Bradley Kolls in the Department of Neurology.
        
    Feb. 21: Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Research Seminar Series
            Hear from the experts on the cutting edge of rehabilitation science throughout the 2023-2024 academic year. 
Sessions are from 12:15 to 1 p.m. every third Wednesday of the month in the Lecture Hall (Room 1250) of the IPE Building and on Zoom.*

    Miles Moore to Receive AOPT Outstanding Physical Therapy Student Award
            The Outstanding PT Student Award will be presented to DPT third-year Miles Moore at the Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy’s (AOPT) Awards Ceremony during the Combined Sections Meeting in Boston, Mass on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at 6:30 PM. 
This award is given to a student physical therapist and student physical therapist assistant (first professional degree) with exceptional scholastic ability and potential for contribution to orthopaedic physical therapy.
        
    Faculty Accomplishments: Jamie L. Greco, PT, DPT, EdD, Appointed to Academic Rigor Task Force within ACAPT
            Jamie L. Greco, PT, DPT, EdD, Co-Director of Clinical Education: Coordinator of Faculty Development Residency; Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery, Core Faculty, has been appointed to serve as a member of the Academic Rigor Task Force within the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT). Her unique skills and background will complement the strengths of the organization's existing structure and enhance the overall effectiveness of ACAPT.

    Club of the Month: Medicine in Motion @ Duke
            Congratulations! The January Club of the Month designated by Duke Campus Groups is Medicine in Motion @ Duke! This group strives to create a community around healthy movement and group exercise to prevent health professional trainee burnout amongst professional MD, PA, DPT, OTD, and nursing students at Duke.
        
    Admitted Student Open House a Success!
            On Jan. 6, DPT faculty, staff, and current students welcomed 65 admitted students and their guests to an Open House event at the Interprofessional Education Building.
Jennifer Pennington, MA, Assistant Director of Admissions, shared, "The event went well and made the admitted students feel at home and ready to make the Duke DPT commitment!"

    Chad Cook, PT, PhD, MBA, FAPTA, and Colleagues Receive Grant to Study the Pain & Disability Drivers Model
            Chad Cook, PT, PhD, MBA, FAPTA, Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery, and colleague Yannick Tousingnant-Laflamme, of Sherbrooke University in Canada, received a $50,000 International Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment Grant to further study the Pain and Disability Drivers Model (PDDM) in a Cervical Population.
