Corey Simon, DPT, PhD, is a researcher and assistant professor of Orthopedic Surgery. He is on the Center for Geriatric Surgery faculty and is a senior fellow in the Duke Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. Earlier this year, he was named a UCSF/AGS Tideswell Emerging Leaders in Aging Scholar.

Duke DPT Faculty Amy Pastva and Corey Simon Join Duke Clinical Research Institute Team
Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy faculty members, Amy Pastva, PT, MA, PhD, and Corey Simon, DPT, PhD, have been appointed as members of the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI). They will serve as faculty in DCRI’s Musculoskeletal and Surgical Sciences (MASS) Therapeutic Area.

Squinting back at me from the hospital bed is a wiry man with a head of wispy white hair. His puffy eyes take the usual route: first my face, then a flicker over my half-buzzed hair, then a scan down my chest and hips in my black unisex scrubs.
"What did you say your name was?" he asks, his face still vaguely confused.
Welcome Back, Stephanie Milosovic, PT, DPT
This week, Duke DPT welcomed back Stephanie Milosovic, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS, a 2012 graduate of our program and former teaching assistant. Milosovic is the new exercise physiologist and will work closely with Division Chief Todd Cade, PT, PhD, and Senthil Selvaraj, MD, to help with their studies. She began on July 10.
DPT Hosts impACT for Durham High Schoolers
Ten Durham-area high school students enjoyed this year’s summer impACT program. Produced annually by Duke OTDand Duke DPT, impACT involved attendees in three full days of programming June 28-30.
DPT student Krissia Pocosangre co-led the program with OTD student April Burch. Tiffany Adams, PT, DPT, MBA, PhD, and Tomeico Faison, OTD, OTR/L led the program. Through interactive sessions and challenges, participants were exposed to pathways for healthy eating and behaviors and the OT and PT professions.
Summer Discovery Program Participants Grow and Learn
From connecting with potential mentors to learning more about specialty areas, Summer Discovery Program participants covered plenty of fun and worthwhile Duke University ground. The seventh annual Summer Discovery Program wrapped up on Friday, June 16.

Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2024 White Coat Ceremony
Ninety-five Doctor of Physical Therapy students received their new crisp white coats in a ceremony at the Duke Chapel today.
The Class of 2024 White Coat Ceremony marked a milestone for the students who have finished the didactic portion of the program and set out to begin a year of clinical experiences before graduating next May.

DPT’s Kaitlin Hicks, MEd, Receives the School of Medicine’s Valued Service Award
Kaitlin Hicks, MEd, a clinical education senior program coordinator with the Doctor of Physical Therapy division, has received an inaugural School of Medicine Dean’s Valued Service Staff Award.
Hicks is just one of four School of Medicine employees to receive the Valued Service Staff Award.
