Weekly Updates by Year

MS1 Weekly Updates

In order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission, the only approved clinical activities during MS1 year will be those through formal coursework, such as Clinical Skills Foundation.  All extracurricular experiences involving direct patient care will be restricted during this time in order to minimize exposure risks for students and our community.  Extracurricular experiences that support communities without direct patient care remain available and encouraged (ie, distribution food, etc).

MS2 Weekly Updates

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) sent you an email on October 1 and 15, inviting you to complete a national survey known as the Year 2 Questionnaire (Y2Q).

Thank you to all for completing the AAMC Y2Q!  Your responses guide us on how to continue to improve our first-year experiences.  If you haven’t had a chance to complete this survey, please remember to check your inbox for an email from AAMC with your individual survey link.

Calling all MS2s – please complete the Y2Q survey, which will be sent to you by the AAMC and is open starting Oct 1.  This confidential survey asks about your experiences during MS1 year.  Thank you for participating and sharing your feedback on learning climate, adjustments to medical school, and future career plans.

MS3 Weekly Updates

Current MS3s will continue the course in Coursera with support from Dr. Troy, as per your syllabus.  We also wanted to share that we are in the process of developing a new course format, under the leadership of Dr. Troy and Dr. Joel Boggan, who has joined this year as the medical co-Director of the course.  This new course format will be asynchronous modules that are built around patient cases, allowing you to learn and apply biostatistics as a physician would in caring for their patients.  The modules will include interactive data elements to really help you visualize and understand the biostatistical concepts.  We are very excited about this new patient-centered biostats course. We would welcome students to join an advisory group for Dr. Boggan and Dr. Troy.  Please contact Dr. Narayan if you are interested.

MS4 Weekly Updates

NEW – Space is now available at Erwin Square on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, in addition to 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Friday.  We would ask that you look at this space first for interview space. Reserve space through this link.

Medical Library spaces are also available as a back-up. Study rooms at the Medical Center Library can also be reserved for interviews Mon-Fri 8a-11p and Sat-Sun 12p-6p. Reservations for library study rooms are available online here -  We suggest using study rooms, as opposed to cubicles, for interviews to minimize noise and disruptions.

Virtual Residency Interviewing resources – We are working on identifying spaces on campus for students to reserve for virtual interviews.  Stay tuned for how to sign up! Thank you to Dr. Kathy Andolsek for sharing this incredible list:
