Summer 2021

Students in the Master of Management in Clinical InformaticsPhysician Assistant Program (MHS), and Pathologists' Assistant Program (MHS) will earn their degrees in September. Students in one of our certificate training programs—Cardiac Ultrasound Certificate Program—will earn their certificates this summer, as well.

Graduation 2021: Atul Rangadurai, PhD in Biochemistry

I am interested in studying changes in the shapes of nucleic acids and proteins, and how that is related to their function and ultimately to cellular activity and disease. My ultimate career goal is to be a Principal Investigator in an R1 research institute performing research.

Graduation 2021: Shelby Neil, Physician Assistant

I worked with PAs in my pre-grad school life and was amazed by their dedication to their patients. I saw the difference they made in patients’ lives and I felt a calling to do the same.

Graduation 2021: Karl Hofmeister, Cardiac Ultrasound Technician

With many of my family members working in the medical field I always held a goal of pursuing it myself but wasn't sure what would be the best option for me. When I first found out that Duke was starting a program for cardiac ultrasound I was unfamiliar with the roles and responsibilities it held in healthcare.

Graduation 2021: Aikya Soni, MS in Population Health Sciences

I became interested in social determinants of health during my medical sociology classes, learning that access to resources like transportation, water, shelter, green space, and good food is extremely important to one’s well-being.

Graduation 2021: Odunola Grace Babawale, MS in Medical Physics

After working for a top oil servicing multinational, I decided to use my earnings to pursue a career in medical physics. My plan is to work with other scientists in the field to research and implement accessible and affordable cancer treatment techniques that would be advantageous to low- to middle-income countries (LMICs) like Nigeria.

Graduation 2021: Sophia Anderson, Master of Biostatistics

I wanted to pursue a Master of Biostatistics because I wanted to go into a field that combined my interest in improving health outcomes with my quantitative background as a mathematics major. I also was drawn to this degree due to the ability to collaborate with so many others in biomedical and health-related research in order to solve problems relating to the health and quality of life of individuals and overall populations.

Graduation 2021: Xiaohui (Hazel) Ang, PhD Pharmacology

I was working as a hospital pharmacist in Singapore. Our constant struggle, together with other healthcare professionals, with countless unanswered clinical questions in many different medical fields often results in frustration in clinical practice and patient care. My first-hand experience with that struggle inspired and motivated me to contribute to research in the biomedical field.
