Academics

PhD training in the School of Medicine uses evidence-based approaches that foster trainees’ technical, operational, and professional skills development. Learning occurs in environments where rigor, transparency, safety, diversity, and inclusion are held to high standards. Students engage in discipline-specific coursework, interdisciplinary seminars, and experimental rotations that introduce them to the breadth of research at Duke. Our goal for PhD training is to provide students with knowledge of and direct experience in research and professional skills that will position them for a range of careers in the biomedical workforce.
