Le Well and Duke's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) are collaborating to decrease barriers in helping our students optimize their mental health. Students in all of the SOM Health Profession Education Programs are eligible to access a CAPS counselor in the Trent Semans Center, Suite 1075 (the Le Well suite).
Two "Let's Talk!" informational / no paperwork hours are available mid-day on Wednesdays when Dr. Strachan-Louider is onsite. Appointments are available by calling the main CAPS line (919) 660-1000, and ask to be scheduled with CAPS@ Le Well location (Trent Semans Center, Suite 1075).
- Wednesdays 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Let's Talk!)
Students in the School of Medicine programs are also welcome to present to CAPS at the campus Wellness Center. Please reach out to Dr. Jane Gagliardi if you encounter any difficulties accessing care through CAPS.
CAPS counselors are available for short-term counseling, and CAPS psychiatrists are available for diagnostic evaluations and medication recommendations. For students with longer-term behavioral health needs, options include obtaining medications and regular follow-up through Student Health and/or seeking behavioral healthcare through community clinicians in-network with your insurance. CAPS has individuals who can help students navigate the process of referral to the community for long-term care, and Le Well's Well-Being Navigator, Jeanine Bandini, is available to help DUSOM students.
