A Pioneering Approach for Advancing Health Care
Duke University’s Master of Management in Clinical Informatics (MMCi) program provides students with multidisciplinary knowledge and a variety of skills, all designed with practical, real-world use in mind. We strive to:

- Improve cost, quality and performance of providers, payers and regulators using data and technology
- Develop a deep understanding of health informatics

Program Format
The MMCi program is a twelve-month degree designed with working professionals in mind.
- The yearly program runs August to August, and is divided into four academic terms, each of which run twelve weeks.
- A combination of on campus and online classes for twelve months.
- Students take three courses per term, plus Ethics.
- An exam period follows the end of each term that does not require students to be on campus.
- Students are required to complete a practicum as part of the curriculum, fostering direct exposure to the health care system.
Study Teams
To complete their coursework, students work in assigned teams of four to five people. As part of our philosophy, peer interaction is a major component of the program. Both face-to-face and technology-assisted communication expose students to a variety of backgrounds and points of view from their peers, mimicking the real-world health care industry.
Career Development
The MMCi program has career development built into its offering. A dedicated career coach leads networking events, hosts a seminar series, and connects our students with industry professionals both within and beyond the Duke University system.
