OBGE PhD Student Wellness and Professional Development Coaching is about the whole person: your values, goals, work, balance, fulfillment, and life purpose. Any concern that gets in the way of achieving optimal well-being is the perfect subject for beginning coaching (for example: stress, exercise, rest, communication, relationships, writing your thesis, career planning, physical space, professional development). Coaching effectively motivates and supports goals through a structured partnership between the student and the coach. The coach helps the individual develop and realize their optimal vision through inquiry, personal discovery, and accountability. Many students have said it helps just to be able to talk things through.
Expected outcomes of a coaching session include:
- Clear understanding of your goals and values
- Motivation to support behavior change
- Strategies for moving toward your goals
Kristin Russell, OBGE Assistant Director of Trainee Development, is a Duke-trained Integrative Wellness Coach with national certification from the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC). Biomedical Graduate Students may schedule a coaching session with Kristin using the link below. The calendar is protected so that only Kristin can view client identity, and everything discussed in the coaching session is kept confidential. Please plan on a 30-45 minute session for the first meeting; though there is no obligation to schedule subsequent coaching sessions, follow-up appointments of any length can be arranged. Coaching is not professional counseling or psychotherapy.
