A select number of applicants are invited to interview with Duke between September through early February. This year, all interviews will be conducted virtually on an online platform. No in-person interviews will be conducted throughout the entire interview season.
The two-day virtual MSTP event consists of interviews with the MSTP admissions committee and individual faculty meetings as well as the School of Medicine MMI, which will also be held virtually this year. The new virtual format involves several events. Applicants will be required to join various online events on the Sunday evening before their interview including a welcome, virtual tours of campus and Durham, and Breakout sessions to learn more about Duke and the community. On the day of the MMI interviews, applicants will do a virtual check in with the Admissions Team, a 'lunch' to learn about 3rd year research opportunities, and then begin the Virtual MMI sessions. Following this, there will be a short closing session with a member of Duke Administration. On the MMI interview day, applicants will be required to be in virtual attendance between 12:15pm EST until approximately 3:45pm EST. Additionally, MSTP applicants will be invited to the MSTP Student virtual event on Thursday evening, before panel & committee interviews between 10:15am - 4:15pm EST on Friday.

After receiving an invitation to interview, the applicant selects a date through the DukeMed Application website: https://admissions.duhs.duke.edu/main. As the applicant clicks on various dates, the web client will indicate which dates are currently available for MSTP interviews. The applicant registers for the date on the DukeMed Application website.

Faculty Interview Preferences
The applicant will have meetings with a small group of MSTP admissions committee members: Dr. Chris Kontos, director; Dr. Anne West, associate director; Andrea Liu, Assistant Dean of Admissions and MSTP; and one or two others. In addition to this admissions committee interview, each applicant will have opportunities to talk with faculty members whose research is of interest to the applicant. Applicants assist in making these matches by identifying twenty (20) faculty members with whom they would like to meet, listed in rank order, beginning with the first choice. MSTP makes every effort to arrange interviews with about four to six of these people. Applicants should feel free to add any information not included in the application that might help in matching their interests to those of Duke faculty members. Information about faculty members' research interests can be found on the Scholars at Duke site. At least three weeks prior to the visit, the list of twenty (20) preferred faculty interviewers should be sent to mstp@duke.edu
The Final Schedule and Further Instructions
Once the program receives an applicant's preferences for faculty interviews, the MSTP interview schedule is arranged. At that time an email is sent containing schedule details, a more detailed description of plans for the visit, and required meeting links and instructions to access.
