Student Group Celebrates Jewish and Latino Heritage

Jewish communities have deep roots in Latin American history, with the first synagogue in the Americas built in Brazil in 1636. A student group known as “Jewtinos at Duke” celebrates this connection of shared Jewish and Latino heritage.

The human brain works in different ways for each of us. But Madhav Swaminathan, MD, professor of anesthesiology, says that shouldn’t be a reason for anyone to feel excluded. Witnessing his autistic adult son thrive as an office assistant at the Duke Center for Autism and Brain Development has been the motivation behind Swaminathan’s push to create welcoming, inclusive spaces for neurodiverse individuals at Duke.

Katherine Myers, PT, DPT, Receives APTA Academy of Education Award

Katherine D. Myers, PT, DPT, PhD candidate (pictured on left), received a 2024 Adopt-A-Doc award. The award recognized her dedication to the profession of physical therapy and the education of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
