Duke OTD Team Members Elected to NCBOTC Board

Congratulations to Tomeico Faison, OTD, OTR/L, Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery, and Bianca Randleman, OTD-S, Class of 2025, who were named co-presidents for the North Carolina Black Occupational Therapist Collective (NCBOTC) e-board.

Feb. 7: Lend a Hand, Share a Heart ❤

On Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 1-3 p.m. in the TBL classroom, join us as we make “Feelie Hearts” for our community partner, the Duke Outpatient Clinic. Chaplain Katherine Henderson will share stories of giving these little symbols of care (“comfort you can carry”) to patients and family members during times of crisis and joy.

Saint Óscar Romero Relic Dedicated in Goodson Chapel

A service in Goodson Chapel was held at the culmination of the International Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (Jan. 18–25) to dedicate a relic of Saint Óscar Romero. Duke Divinity School welcomed the Most Reverend Luis Rafael Zarama, bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Raleigh, N.C., as the guest preacher.

OTD Student Volunteers Needed for Mapping Review

Cambey Mikush, OTD, assistant professor in orthopaedic surgery, is recruiting 1-2 first-year students to support a customized learning project developing and writing a mapping review on capstone education. The project explores models and processes across disciplines used to develop and implement graduate-level capstones. Time will be spent reviewing abstracts and articles, extracting and analyzing data, and writing.

OTD Faculty Member Completes Duke AHEAD Program

Congratulations to Denise M. Nepveux, PhD, associate professor in orthopaedic surgery, on completing the Duke Academy for Health Professions Education and Academic Development (AHEAD) certificate program.
