My journey to the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) House of Delegates started last year, when I was elected to our PA program student government. I served as one of Duke’s representatives for the AAPA Student Academy with my classmate Chris Marshall. The Assembly of Representatives (AOR) mimics AAPA’s House of Delegates (HOD) and introduces student leaders to our profession’s governing structure.

The Office for Faculty Appoints a New Director of the APT Office
The Office for Faculty is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of the new Director of the School of Medicine APT Office. Joan Dupont, PhD, has accepted this position and will start on July, 1, 2024. Joan comes to the School of Medicine from the Department of Medicine, where she has served as the Senior Program Director for the last two years, overseeing the Office of Faculty Affairs for the Department.
White Coat Ceremony Marks Pivotal Transition for Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy Students
The Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program held the White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2025 in Duke Chapel on June 4. The celebration marked the end of didactic work and the transition to third-year clinical experiences for the 96 students.

Students had just returned from a week-long break and the long holiday weekend, and they were seriously busy studying for an exam the next day. Nevertheless, the arrival of Locopops and a friendly dog (courtesy of Pet Partners, whose organizer and champion Judi came through with her lovely dog) were met with enthusiastic and gracious students, faculty (and another lovely dog and adorable children!) and staff at the PA Program Building.
