The connection between arts and well-being, which has been recognized since the very first Le Well Wednesday Wellness Workshop in partnership with Duke Arts Create in January 2024, is gaining traction - and evidence! According to a recent article in the Guardian, "Professor Daisy Fancourt, the director of the WHO center and is also a co-author of the research, said it had shown that “arts engagement has diverse and tangible effects on health, from supporting cognitive development and protecting against cognitive decline, to reducing symptoms of mental illness and enhancing well-being..." — yet another reason to check out a Duke Arts Create workshop or to propose a workshop for Le Well to implement! Coming soon: Duke Arts Creates workshops on Weaving (January 8) and Drawing 101 (January 22), and Le Well Paper Cutting with Duke Med Chinese (January 29).

Puppies and Popsicles!
LE WELL was pleased to host a special Wednesday wellness workshop on the patio outside the interprofessional education building on April 24. Students from health professions programs enjoyed popsicles from Locopops and had the opportunity to spend time socializing with each other and with dogs and their owners graciously provided by Pet Partners.
Special thanks to Dr. Melanie Bonner for making this event possible! Best wishes to all of our students in their studies and endeavors.
