OTD Presents Key Topics at May 2 Departmental Research Day

From interacting with visiting professor, Shawn Roll, OTR/L, RMSKS, FAOTA, FAIUM, to poster and podium presentations, the Occupational Therapy Doctorate program infused vital topics into Departmental Research Day conversations. Emily D’Agostino, DrPH, MS, Med, MA, presented “Feasibility of Going Places: A Park‐based Active Transportation Toolbox to Promote Youth Physical Activity and Access to Healthy Community Spaces.”

OTD Faculty Member Named Climate and Sustainability Teaching Fellow

Denise Nepveux, Ph.D. has been named one of 12 Climate and Sustainability Teaching Fellows. Led by the Nicholas School of the Environment and Duke Learning Innovation, the program supports a peer learning community for faculty and other instructors who are interested in redesigning an existing course to substantively engage with issues of climate and sustainability, to be taught in fall 2023 or spring 2024.

PGC Faculty Earn Distinguished Professorships

This spring, five faculty members in the Precision Genomics Collaboratory have been awarded distinguished professorships. The new distinguished professors were honored at the annual distinguished professorship event on May 4.   In total, Duke University awarded distinguished professorships to 44 faculty members from seven Duke colleges and schools this year.   Distinguished professorships are awarded to faculty who have demonstrated extraordinary scholarship in advancing science and improving human health.   

Student Volunteers Needed for The Soccer Tournament June 1-4

  Organizers of The Soccer Tournament set for June 1-4 at  WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary are recruiting DPT student volunteers.  Students would work in the Athlete’s Village alongside athletic trainers, sports PTs, and sports medicine physicians to help care for the athletes before and after their matches.

Swain Lenz to Speak at Large Genomic Conference

Sequencing and Genomic Technologies Director, Devjanee (Devi) Swain Lenz, will be one of the invited panel speakers at the Festival of Genomics and Biodata conference in Boston on October 4-5. The Festival is the world’s largest open access genomics event and covers a host of topics. There will be 120 sessions with 150 invited speakers and 100 exhibitors. Swain Lenz will be on a panel discussing “The Resolution Revolution: Going Beyond Single-Cell Analysis As You Know It.”
