Duke University School of Medicine Again Ranked Among Country’s Top Medical Schools

U.S. News & World Report assessed 120 medical schools and once again ranked the Duke University School of Medicine among the best in the nation, placing it 13th in a tie with the University of Pittsburgh and Yale University. The medical school’s Physician Assistant program was again ranked No. 1, tied with the University of Iowa, among 169 programs evaluated -- a top spot it has held for several years.

David Page Named New Chair of Department of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics

C. David Page, PhD, has been named the new chair of the Department of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, effective June 15, 2019. Dr. Page is currently a Kellett and Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Medicine and Public Health.

Hall and Hanks Receive 2019 ASCI Young Physician-Scientist Awards

Two faculty from the Department of Medicine have received 2019 ASCI Young Physician-Scientist Awards from the American Society for Clinical Investigation. Gentzon Hall, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine (Nephrology), and Brent Hanks, MD, PhD, assistant professor of medicine (Medical Oncology) and pharmacology and cancer biology, are among 35 "outstanding physician-scientists" nationally to be recognized.

Duke PhD student Marcel Frenkel knows this problem well, as he watched his mom’s pancreatic cancer develop resistance to her therapies and pass away in 2015.
