School of Medicine Scientist Sue Jinks-Robertson Elected to the National Academy of Sciences

Sue Jinks-Robertson, PhD, a professor in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology in the School of Medicine, has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Jinks-Robertson is also co-vice chair of the department and director of the cell and molecular biology program at Duke. Her research focuses on the regulation of genetic stability and primarily uses budding yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) as a model genetic system.

Four Duke Medical Students Named to the 2019-20 Class of Albert Schweitzer Fellows

The North Carolina Albert Schweitzer Fellowship (NCASF) announced the selection of its 2019-20 class of Schweitzer Fellows. Twenty-eight graduate students will spend the next year learning to effectively address the social factors that impact health, and developing lifelong leadership skills. In doing so, they will follow the example set by famed physician-humanitarian Albert Schweitzer, for whom their Fellowship is named.

NMRI Annual Workshop

The Network of Minority Health Research Investigators (NMRI) is a network that is “owned” by its members and supported by the NIDDK. Its success begins with the dedication of senior investigators to mentor and serve as role models for junior investigators, and continues with the participation of active members and the recruitment of new members. More than 600 researchers have participated in NMRI workshops in the past decade, and that number continues to grow.

ELAM Names Geeta Swamy, MD, to 2019-2020 Class of Fellows

Geeta Swamy, MD, vice dean and associate vice provost for scientific integrity for Duke University and the School of Medicine and associate professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology, was selected as a member of the 2019-2020 class of fellows for the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) Program at Drexel University College of Medicine.
