Position Summary
The ERG Leader will shape the vision, drive strategy, and inspire action for ¡DALHE!. This role champions initiatives that advance Latiné/Hispanic employee engagement, align with the School of Medicine’s employee strategy, and position the ERG as a vibrant platform for connection, advocacy, and professional growth.
As the ERG’s primary representative both within Duke and beyond, the ERG Leader will collaborate closely with institutional leaders, the Office of Culture, Engagement and Impact (OCEI), and the ERG’s executive sponsor—leading with influence, energy, and impact to strengthen and elevate our community.
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer leadership role with meaningful impact. Time commitments are flexible and include engaging in monthly OCEI leadership meetings, collaborating in ERG board sessions, and participating in events that connect, empower, and elevate our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Direction & Vision
- Define the overall mission, purpose, and long-term strategy for the ERG.
- Establish goals that align with the School of Medicine (SoM) Office of Culture, Engagement and Impact (OCEI) strategy and promote engagement across the institution.
- Collaboration & Representation
- Serve as the primary representative of the ERG to university leadership, at events, and in external engagements.
- Act as the key point of contact with executive leaders and the organization.
- Partner with the Executive Sponsor to drive positive change and amplify the ERG’s impact.
- Governance & Leadership
- Facilitate ERG leadership board meetings and provide guidance to board members in achieving shared goals.
- Work closely with the OCEI leadership to track progress, address challenges, and present updates in monthly leadership meetings.
- Communications & Engagement
- Develop and distribute ERG-related communications for the school-wide community.
- Maintain timely and professional responses to inquiries.
- Promote ERG events, initiatives, and opportunities for engagement across Duke.

- Proven leadership and facilitation expertise, with a track record of driving vision and inspiring teams.
- Passionate commitment to advancing employee engagement and fostering inclusive, thriving communities in academic or organizational settings.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with experience influencing and engaging senior leadership.
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities, cultivating collaboration, and delivering meaningful organizational impact through strategic ERG initiatives.
- Candidate must be employed at Duke and in good standing.
