COVID Protocol: As of May 5th, 2024: Donors must be free of COVID-19 for 5 days, prior to their passing, to be considered for anatomical donation for our program.
Our Mission
The Duke Anatomical Gifts Program accepts whole body donations to advance medical education, training, and research. Each donation plays a vital role in preparing the next generation of health professionals and deepening our understanding of the human body.
Education
Working with human donors allows students to learn in ways that cannot be replicated through textbooks, simulations, or digital models. These generous gifts help students studying various healthcare professions to understand how the body works and how to care for others. The Anatomical Gifts Program maintains full responsibility for the care, use, and respectful stewardship of every donor entrusted to Duke University School of Medicine.
Our Commitment
Everyone in the Duke Anatomical Gifts Program works closely with donor families to make sure the donation process is handled with care, respect, and kindness. We do our best to honor the wishes of each donor and their loved ones.
We believe whole-body donation is one of the greatest gifts a person can give to help others and advance medical knowledge. Every donor and family member is deeply valued and appreciated.
To keep your donation plans up to date, we ask that you contact the Duke Anatomical Gifts Program every two years to confirm your information and make sure your wishes can be carried out as planned.
