To get started with access to the SRE, follow the instructions below in order
Step 1: Complete Training & Agreements
Before accessing the enclave:
- Complete required LMS Training Modules (PRCC Only)
- Review and sign the User Access Agreement (PDF provided upon approval)
- Ensure your IRB or QI documentation is submitted
Step 2: Obtain Core Research Request ID
- This is how you pay for the services in the SRE
- Your PI or Financial manager has access to request the services in CoreResearch

Step-by-Step Instructions

Log in to coreresearch.duke.edu
- Select Manage Service Requests. (If you do not see the green Manage Service Requests button, please look in the lower right corner of the page and select the PI, PI Delegate, or Facility User role.)
- Click Add New Request.
- Enter the request Title (to identify the project or request; often, the IRB number).
- Select the "Research Enclave Service Center" (Core).
- Select the Project ID. (Click the arrow to the right to search. In the projects search, if you have your fund code, click the Search by Query arrow and select By Account#.)
- Click Save.
- Click Add by Group (not Add New).
- Select the PACE Services.
- Click Save.
- Click Submit for Review. (When complete, you will see the message Operation Successful.)
- Copy, or make a note of, the generated REQ-00000##### number. You will need this to Request PACE Services from the PACE Team.
Duke Department of Surgery Users
Employees and students affiliated with the Duke Department of Surgery must submit a request for PACE services through the department's data services intake system: Duke Department of Surgery Data Service Requests
Hospital Cost Centers (Company Code 030)
Duke researchers are granted access to a SRE cluster by approval of their PI to a specific account/project with an appropriate fund code/cost center.
In order to access the cluster via the account, all users must:
- Have official approval by the PI responsible for the account to be added to the account in both the OIT Policy Group (Group Manager) AND for the Slurm account.
- Have a DHE Active Directory account (or sponsored DHE Account) https://oit.duke.edu/service/sponsored-accounts/
- If remote, use the DUHS VPN (vpn.duhs.duke.edu)
