Joseph G. Rogers, MD, will serve as interim chair of the Department of Medicine, effective July 1, 2017. Dr. Rogers will succeed Mary Klotman, MD, who will leave her role as chair of the department on July 1 to serve as dean of the Duke University School of Medicine.
Dr. Rogers is a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology. He is a physician-scientist specializing in clinical cardiac transplantation and caring for patients with advanced heart failure. Dr. Rogers currently serves as senior vice chair of the Department of Medicine and associate chief medical officer of the Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC), where he is helping lead the PDC clinical growth over the next five years. He recently served as interim chief of the Division of Cardiology.
Dr. Rogers earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a cardiology fellowship at Washington University Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Rogers joined Duke in 2004.
