Melissa Haendel, PhD
Melissa Haendel's research focuses on utilizing data translation and informatics to weave together healthcare systems, basic science, and patient insights, with the goal of driving clinical and societal impact. She spearheads the development of data integration technologies and standards, leading global interdisciplinary teams to create diagnostic applications for rare diseases and establish platforms for translational research. Key initiatives she co-founded include the Monarch Initiative, which unites global knowledge on rare diseases for diagnostics and discovery; and the National Clinical Cohort Collaborative (N3C), the largest publicly-available harmonized dataset of electronic health records.
