The SOM Academic New Faculty Orientation (NFO) series continued on 2/2/23 with “Advancing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion”. (Pathway: clinician/clinical researcher).

Dr. Kevin Thomas (Vice Dean for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer; Associate Professor of Medicine) and Dr. Leigh-Anne Royster (Assistant Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) spoke with faculty about EDI initiatives in the SOM, how to create a shared language for conversations about EDI, and the sense of individual responsibility for contributing to EDI efforts.

Advancing EDI is a priority for the entire institution. Though this presentation was for new faculty, chairs and leaders at all levels of the institution are also learning about this critical material and exploring both individual and system-level opportunities for growth and accountability. If you missed the session, we encourage you to review the session slides, recording, and links to further learning
