New Faculty Orientation - registration open!

Starting a new faculty appointment is an exciting and challenging opportunity, and whether you joined Duke this month or last year, we want to make sure you have the tools and support to hit the ground running and to navigate your career here. While this series of seminars specifically targets faculty hired in the past three years, all faculty may join and many of the topics addressed are applicable to faculty regardless of career stage.  Orientation features tailored pathways to support the unique needs of clinicians and basic scientists.

Laura Pietrosimone, PT, DPT, PhD, Receives NIH K23 Grant

Laura Pietrosimone, PT, DPT, PhD, has received a new National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS)) K23: Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award. 

Faculty in Focus: Antoine L. Bailliard, PhD, MS, OTR/L

Dr. Antoine Bailliard is an associate professor in orthopaedic surgery. As a member of the OTD faculty, he teaches Occupational Science and Occupational Transitions and works with OTD students on Customized Learning Projects. He's also a bridge builder and advocates for moving OTs into community health settings to better serve the growing number of individuals with mental health needs. He was recently appointed as a faculty member at the Star Institute for Sensory Processing in Denver.

OBGE Professional Development Award: Duc Huynh

This summer, I had the privilege of participating in the advanced neurobiology course at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL). This intensive six-week program is designed to offer individuals with a keen interest in neuroscience a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge and hands-on experience in cellular and molecular approaches within the field. The syllabus encompasses various facets of professional development, including engaging in collaborative projects, honing public speaking abilities, and attending daily lectures on a wide spectrum of topics within neuroscience.

Duke OTD Welcomes Class of 2026

Forty-five new Occupational Therapy Doctorate students participated in an inspiring Convocation ceremony on Friday, August 11. The OTD ceremony marked and celebrated the new students’ entry into the program and concluded a week filled with orientation activities.
