The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Advancement, and Leadership in the Sciences (IDEALS) Office contributes to the diverse scientific climate within the Biomedical Graduate Programs in the School of Medicine. The office works to bring talented underrepresented graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to the Duke University School of Medicine and to enrich their experiences over the course of their training and studies.
The IDEALS office hosts a series of programs including professional development opportunities, academic enrichment groups, mentoring programs, and social activities. Our signature diversity initiatives for trainees include Duke PRIME-PREP for post-baccalaureate trainees and the BioCoRE program for PhD students in the basic and biomedical sciences. We are dedicated to maintaining a climate of inclusiveness and celebrating the richly unique scientific community at Duke University.
