Hi! My name is Zoya Surani, and I am so excited to be part of the PCLT family as an MS1. I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, and graduated from Harvard College in 2022 with a degree in Neuroscience (Mind, Brain, Behavior track) with a minor in Educational Studies. In college, I was a lead peer advisor for first-years, co-director/counselor for Camp Kesem (I go by Proton!), menstrual health educator, EMT, and course assistant for classes on general chemistry and educational inequities. I have also been involved with various nonprofits in health education for children as well as for reducing inequities more broadly in K-12 education. During my gap year, I conducted maternal and child health research in Karachi, Pakistan, primarily related to developmental neuroscience and ACEs, while also working on storytelling work related to Pakistani identity and The Partition of 1947. My current clinical interests include OBGYN, pediatrics, and family medicine. I am extremely passionate about health and education, and would love to work as a clinician and medical educator, ideally in a safety-net or public hospital.
