Hi! I'm Sophia, a second-year Duke medical student. I was born in Orlando and spent most of my upbringing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I studied neuroscience at Boston University, where I explored interests ranging from child development research and global education in Singapore to community engagement through Alzheimer's Buddies and competitive ballroom dance. Before Duke, I worked as a clinical research coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital's Neurofibromatosis and Schwannomatosis Clinic, focusing on quality-of-life research and improving access to care for patients with rare diseases.
I'm happy to chat about anything you might be thinking through and answer any questions about the amazing Duke Med community! Choosing a medical school is a big (and challenging) decision, and I'd love to help you navigate the process.
