Hi, everyone! My name is Rory and I am a current MS1. After completing my bachelor’s in neuroscience and Arabic and competing in collegiate athletics, I worked at a mental health startup in Boston. Missed scientific research, I shifted to working as a research assistant at the Female Athlete Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. At the same time, I coached girls cross country and track and field. I found that my research and coaching roles complimented and enriched each other, so I turned my sights towards a career in medicine. Along my path, I spent a year in Tunisia on a Fulbright grant with the aim to elevate under-represented groups in society through sports science research, and then I spent a year as an adaptive ski instructor, working with athletes with disabilities in Telluride, Colorado.

Please feel free to reach out with questions concerning my “Why Duke;” coming to a career in medicine after undergrad (including post-bacc coursework); the medical school application process and retaking the MCAT; female athlete, antidoping, and international sports medicine research; and more. I am happy to chat!
