Hello! My name is Nancy Twishime, and I am incredibly excited to be in the PCLT program. I spent my childhood in Cape Town, South Africa, and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In 2022, I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Medical Studies and a minor in Urban Planning. During my undergraduate education, I participated in dementia and HIV education initiatives to improve public awareness and compassion for health challenges within my local community. I also had the privilege of participating in ALS and Frontotemporal Dementia research in college and high school. My love for global health inspired me to volunteer with a medical brigade in rural Mexico to bring essential care to those with limited medical access. During my gap years, I continued serving my community as a caregiver in a respiratory rehabilitation center, a behavioral health therapist in a sober living home, and a college access advisor for low-income high school students. My passion for health promotion and education drives my current interests in internal medicine, OB/GYN, and psychiatry. Outside of my professional pursuits, I enjoy music, drawing, cooking, and vlogging!
