Mary T. Champagne, RN, PhD, is a Professor in the Duke Schools of Nursing and Medicine and a Senior Fellow of the Duke University Medical Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development. Dr. Champagne was Dean of the Duke University School of Nursing from 1991-2004. Under Dr. Champagne's leadership, the Duke University School of Nursing emerged as a national leader in nursing education. Dr. Champagne has focused on providing excellence in education and on reaching out to provide health care to the medically underserved. Dr. Champagne earned her PhD in Nursing at the University of Texas at Austin and is a member of the North Carolina Council of Deans and Directors, the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau.
