My name is Kush, and I’m a current first-year medical student (MS1) at Duke University School of Medicine. I spent my early childhood in Queens, NY, before moving to East Brunswick, NJ, where I completed most of my schooling and graduated from high school. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in three years with a focus in neuroscience.
After, graduation, I decided to move to Germany and spent a year conducting research at one of their medical schools through Fulbright. I then completed two AmeriCorps service terms at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) under the New Jersey Department of Health, working on initiatives addressing food insecurity and access to medical care.
I am especially passionate about health policy and global healthcare systems after having worked alongside policymakers and explored diverse models of care around the world. Outside of medicine, I’m an avid foodie who loves exploring new restaurants, backpacking (most recently a 67-day expedition through Patagonia), and adventure sports like skydiving and scuba diving. I also enjoy stargazing, playing guitar, board games, and. mycology/gardening. I am happy to chat about the application/admissions process, extracurriculars, or anything else you might need help with!
