Jennifer Averitt joined the School of Medicine as Associate Dean for Medical and Health Professions Education Administration in August 2021. She is responsible for the administration and oversight of all operational aspects for the medical education units as well as coordinating centralized services in support of the School of Medicine Health Professions Education Programs. Her administrative areas of oversight include finance and budgeting, human resources, student affairs, curriculum, project management, staff supervision and strategic planning.

Ms. Averitt began her career at Duke in 2012 when she joined the Department of Medicine and served as the Division Administrator for Internal Medicine Medical Education, with administrative oversight of the residency and fellowship programs until 2018, when she was appointed Senior Administrative Director for DUHS Hospital Medicine, supporting providers and staff across Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital and Duke Raleigh Hospital.  Ms. Averitt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Southern California.
