My name is Gelila Yitsege and I was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia- right outside of our nation's capital! I received my Psychology degree from Columbia University and went back to DC for two years after graduating. Back in the city, I researched maternal vitamin A intake and its effects on DiGeorge syndrome (and worked at an Italian restaurant)! This year, I'll be serving as the PCLT DC representative and director's liaison and working alongside Dr. Damon Tweedy for his Behavioral Health Seminar as a teaching assistant. I'll also be a co-writer and co-director of DukeMed's annual Student Faculty Show! I'm primarily interested in Pediatric Psychiatry and hope to continue advocacy work regarding re-thinking and reconstructing the juvenile justice system. For fun, I like to make playlists, walk my dog Tobi and paint!
