Hi! My name is Alagu and I'm an MS2 at Duke Med driven by bridging bench-side innovation and patient care. My academic path spans a University Scholars degree at Baylor University concentrating in biochemistry and medical humanities, followed by an MPhil at the University of Cambridge as a Churchill Scholar, where I worked on tissue engineering and regenerative stem cell therapies. Prior to medical school, I advanced translational drug discovery across academic, government, industry, and non-profit sectors.

Currently, I lead the development of clinical machine learning algorithms, translational therapeutics, and biomarker discovery platforms for complex diseases. Alongside research, I am deeply invested in the medical humanities, shaped by end-of-life care and narrative practice. Outside the hospital and lab, I enjoy teaching science, choreographing multicultural dance, playing soccer, practicing Taekwondo, and playing the saxophone.

I'm always excited to chat about translational careers, research, navigating medical school, or life in Durham!
