Welcome to the new blog for news, tips, and insights related to grant applications. This blog is managed by the Duke School of Medicine’s Office of Research Development, but we welcome readers and contributors from across the University.
With more than 9 years of experience, our office knows NIH’s research grant applications very well, particularly multi-component mechanisms such as P01, P30, P50, and U54. One of us is also familiar with applications to the Department of Defense and National Science Foundation, among others.

We’ll cover “how tos” like figuring out what you need to be compliant, making your application stand out, recognizing and solving common problems, and revising the application when you’d swear everything the reviewers want is already there. Our goal is to create a virtual community of people at Duke who think an awful lot about grant applications, and to allow everyone at Duke to benefit from our “deep thoughts”.
