The School of Medicine celebrates Black History Month by honoring the individuals that made lasting contributions in the past and present to our institutional excellence. Among them was Charles Johnson II, MD, who became the first Black faculty member in the School of Medicine in 1970. Johnson was a valuable mentor to Black students and residents and a leader in the school’s move toward equity.
