School of Medicine Welcomes 2020 incoming class

The School of Medicine welcomes more than 600 students from across the country and around the world who start their health professions careers at Duke University School of Medicine this month.

Students are beginning the next phase of their education at Duke in the midst of two pandemics – COVID-19 and racial injustice. The School of Medicine is addressing both through urgent and intentional actions. Classes and student activities have been transitioned to both virtual and in-person classes, dependent upon the specific educational program. And the School of Medicine has embarked on a thoughtful and aggressive strategic planning process to dismantle racism in the school and beyond in our communities. “The circumstances we are all living, learning and working in are difficult and stressful, but they also present unique opportunities to contribute in a way few others have had in their educational endeavors,” said Mary E. Klotman, MD, Dean, Duke University School of Medicine. “We are glad you are here.”
