Researcher onboarding and consultations help new and established researchers

Duke is a big place – and when it comes to research, it may feel like you need a personal guide to help you navigate the resources and processes you need to be successful.

Enter the myRESEARCHnavigators team, supported by Duke’s Clinical & Translational Science Institute, who help researchers start off on the right foot.  Since 2017, the myRESEARCHnavigators team, housed in the Duke Office of Research Initiatives, has offered over 400 one-on-one, tailored consultation sessions to researchers across the institution.  The consultations ensure that researchers are successful, by making them aware of resources, processes, and potential collaborators at Duke.  The team also covers important information about the roles and responsibilities of being a researcher at Duke. The 90-minute session is customized to the researcher’s interests and upcoming plans.

While the service is critical for those new to Duke research, it can be extremely beneficial to those who have been at Duke for longer periods of time.  Since the team members spend a good portion of their time exploring all that Duke has to offer, they are always up-to-date on the new, and ever-changing, resources and processes.

To schedule a session, email myresearchnavigators@duke.edu or visit myRESEARCHhome and navigate to the “Get Help” widget.  The consultation is now required for new SOM research faculty hired on or after July 1, 2019.  Those faculty will receive emails directly from the team.
