The Duke Office of Clinical Research (DOCR) hosted the first Duke REDCap Day on Wednesday, September 26th. REDCap Day was a 
chance for members of the Duke community using REDCap, or interested in using REDCap, could learn more about how REDCap can help teams manage and collect all types of data.
The Keynote speaker was Rob Taylor, who is the lead developer for REDCap at Vanderbilt. He presented a history of REDCap and gave the audience a glimpse into what we can expect to see next. Jeff Hawley, of the DOCR Data Team, also demonstrated some new functionality, with the Dynamic Data Pull (DDP) on FHIR feature. DDP on FHIR will allow Duke researchers to directly pull some elements from Maestro into REDCap for their research studies, saving time and reducing data entry errors. Ceci Chamorro, also from the DOCR Data Team, gave a great introductory session on REDCap and also presented on External Modules, which is a like an app store for REDCap, and allows us to add new features to expand the capabilities of the platform. External Modules can let you easily switch between languages, send email alerts, link to Tableau, or create tables on your data collection forms. Mary Beth Davis, Erika Segear Johnson, Michelle Smerek, and Megan Churchill showed ways to use REDCap to manage administrative tasks. Ester Granville demonstrated how the LIVE for LIFE employee wellness program uses REDCap to manage program participation. Hira Ahmed and Charlotte Stoute demonstrated how they use REDCap to capture electronic consent to participate in a research study, and David Matesanz from the IRB spoke about the requirements for electronic consent from a regulatory perspective.
