Randomized Clinical Trial Shows Palliative Care in Heart Failure Improves Patient Outcomes

The work of a research team from Duke led by Joseph Rogers, MD, interim chair of the Department of Medicine, was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. The study showed that patients who got palliative care had better quality of life, higher function and reduced anxiety and depression (with no survival difference, as hypothesized).
