In alignment with the statement from President Vince Price released earlier today, we send our sympathy and support to the people of Charlottesville. We recognize that these types of heinous acts have impact that extend beyond Virginia. Hatred and violence violate the sense of security of all people, especially members of marginalized groups in our community who may be feeling especially vulnerable. As such, I want to strongly reaffirm our rejection of hatred, bigotry and racism and our commitment to diversity, inclusion and respect for all as fundamental core values of the Duke University School of Medicine.
