Would you like to be nominated to represent the School of Medicine on your local Duke alumni regional board? The Duke Alumni Association has regional volunteers serving in nearly 40 domestic regions and a dozen international locations. Volunteers drive the activity of these Duke alumni groups. You can help mobilize alumni in your area by planning programs, hosting and organizing events, or even just suggesting ideas for ways to connect alumni in your community.
Getting involved with Duke where you live is a great way to network with other members of the Duke family, stay active in the ongoing life of the university, celebrate the accomplishments of the Duke community, and advance Duke’s ideal of knowledge in the service of society.
Alumni of the graduate and professional schools now represent over 50 percent of the total Duke alumni population (170,000), and that trend will continue. It’s important that the School of Medicine has a voice in these regional boards and encourages programming that engages a broad cross-section of the alumni population beyond the traditional undergraduate experience.
School of Medicine alumni representatives on regional boards are expected to attend quarterly meetings, represent the school in the region, serve as points-of-contact for our alumni base in the area, and encourage fellow alumni attendance at Duke alumni programs. The position requires 2-4 hours per month.
