Each year, fourth year medical students across the country view the third week of March as the start of their future. Match Day is a unified event organized by the National Resident Match Program. At 1 pm on March 21, medical students at Duke University School of Medicine opened their envelopes and learned where in the country they will begin their residency programs.
A total of 89 students participated in Match Day at Duke this year and are headed to some of the nation’s most prestigious programs.
Among them,
- 24 are staying at Duke University
- 16 are going to Harvard University programs at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, or Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
- 8 are going to University of Pennsylvania or Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
- 4 are going to University of California at San Francisco programs
- 2 are going to John Hopkins University programs
