Students, faculty and staff of the Duke Master of Biomedical Sciences program celebrated its first anniversary this week in recognition of the December 6, 2014 Board of Trustees approval of the School of Medicine’s newest degree. The inaugural cohort of 31 students, representing 24 colleges and universities including Duke, arrived on campus in late June of 2015 and will complete the one year masters degree program in May of 2016. The unique curriculum integrates graduate level courses in the human biological sciences with professional identity development and Emergency Medical Technician training. It is offered by a multidisciplinary faculty from the departments of Cell Biology, Community and Family Medicine, Biostatistics, Evolutionary Anthropology, Pediatrics, Psychology & Neurosciences, Surgery, Neurobiology, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences; the Physician Assistant and Doctor of Physicial Therapy programs; and the School of Nursing.
