Alyssa Platt

Alyssa Platt, a distinguished biostatistician, has made extraordinary contributions to the Duke Global Health Institute and the School of Medicine. Her leadership in advancing data practices, mentoring junior scientists, and fostering global research collaborations has set a new standard for excellence. As one nominator noted, “Alyssa embodies excellence in all that she does, and she sets an incredible example and mentor for our other staff members.”
Professionalism & Integrity Staff Award
Angela Womble
Angela Womble’s role as administrative assistant and surgical scheduler for the Duke Urogynecology team is marked by her clinical intuition and unwavering professionalism. She has streamlined surgical scheduling, improved patient access, and ensured seamless care coordination. A nominator praised her ability to “blend clinical intuition into her administrative role for the benefit of her team and her patients.”
Inclusion in Action Staff Award
Sharena Ballard-Hart

Sharena Ballard-Hart has transformed the culture of the Brain Imaging and Analysis Center through her leadership, empathy, and commitment to equity. Her efforts to ensure that all employees feel valued and included have made her a beacon of inclusive excellence. One nominator shared, “Sharena sets a new standard for what it means to be a champion of inclusion.”

Linwood Webb

Linwood Webb’s behind-the-scenes innovation has revolutionized operations within the Duke Physician Assistant Program. From automating complex processes to creating inclusive tools like the interactive student database, Linwood’s work has enhanced both learning and efficiency. As one nominator put it, “There is no problem we bring to Linwood that he cannot offer a solution.”
