Integrating Data Positions Into WE-R Clinical Research Job Classifications

A new project from the DOCR Workforce and Engagement (WE-R) team seeks to enhance support for clinical research data staff with better classification, training, and career paths. Shape the future with us!

The Duke Office of Clinical Research (DOCR) is leading a WE-R project to ensure the appropriate classification of staff in clinical research data positions. Our goal is to provide targeted training, support, and professional development while aligning with competencies and establishing standardization across the Duke clinical research enterprise. This project involves updating job descriptions to accurately reflect data on clinical research staff responsibilities, defining clear career ladders and progression paths, and ensuring proper staff classification. The process will map current positions to competency-based job classifications, similar to the rollout in September 2016 for clinical research professionals. We are thrilled to extend this program to Duke staff working with clinical research data! In collaboration with faculty and staff, DOCR identifies additional data competencies to integrate into our existing clinical research professionals' ladder.
