Jane P. Gagliardi, MD, MHS & Saumil M. Chudgar, MD, MHA, MSEd
Dr. Jane Gagliardi is a professor at Duke University School of Medicine, where she holds multiple leadership positions including Associate Dean for Learning Environment and Well-Being. She has directed educational programs in medicine and psychiatry and co-directs the Evidence-Based Medicine course. Dr. Gagliardi has extensive experience across inpatient and consultation-liaison psychiatry and medicine. A former president of the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry, she received its Outstanding Mentor award in 2024 and currently serves as Associate Director for the UC Irvine Train New Trainers Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship Program.
Dr. Saumil Chudgar is Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs at Duke University School of Medicine, Professor of Medicine, and hospitalist at Duke University Hospital. He joined Duke's faculty in 2008 after earning his MD and completing his residency there and holds advanced degrees in healthcare administration and medical education leadership. Dr. Chudgar oversees the MD curriculum, supports curricular staff, and previously led clinical education as Assistant Dean. He directs the Clinical Skills Course, teaches small groups, and has guided undergraduate medical education for several years. His work focuses on medical education innovation, curriculum development, teaching methods, and clinical skills assessment. Dr. Chudgar has received multiple teaching awards recognizing his impact on medical education.
