Jessica Lahey earned her J.D. from UNC with concentration in juvenile and education law and has ties to Duke University School of Medicine, where she worked as a member of the Duke Child Protection Team and additionally on CDC-sponsored research on HIV in children. Lahey is an educator, parent, and deep-thinking expert. She is a New York Times Best-selling author. Her blog includes posts on topics including resilience, addiction, gender affirmation, and well-being. She has generously offered to share with the DUSOM community her experience and some lessons learned on the topic of recognizing and addressing distress in someone you know and/or love.
