SOM Academic New Faculty Orientation: Lab Science Introduction & Starting A Lab

Starting a new faculty appointment is an exciting and challenging opportunity, and whether you joined Duke this month or last year, the School of Medicine Office for Faculty wants to make sure you have the tools and support to hit the ground running and to navigate your career here. This session is an introduction to the Vice Dean for Basic Science office and supporting offices. Participants will increase their understanding of how the office works with departments and faculty. The session will review and re-emphasize support services and the importance of mental and emotional health. It will feature a moderated roundtable discussion on faculty experiences and hear testimonials from faculty about what worked, what they wish they'd known, and advice for new faculty. This seminar will be most relevant for faculty in the basic sciences.
