For over 25 years, Dorothy Robert's path-breaking work in law and public policy has addressed issues of social justice in science, medicine, and bioethics. Her recent scholarship includes reproductive ethics, health equity, and structural racism in health care. Professor Roberts is the author of more than 100 scholarly articles and book chapters. Her books include Fatal Invention: How Science, Politics, and Big Business Re-create Race in the Twenty-first Century; Shattered Bonds: The Color of Child Welfare; Killing the Black Body: Race, Reproduction, and the Meaning of Liberty; and Torn Apart: How the Child Welfare System Destroys Black Families-And How Abolition Can Build A Safer World. She is also a co-editor of six books on such topics as constitutional law and women and the law. This lecture is made possible by the John P. McGovern, MD Endowment Fund. The McGovern Prize is awarded to an individual for outstanding contributions to the art & science of medicine.
