The Rainbow of Heroes Walk benefitting the Duke Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy Family Support Program is a morning-long fundraising event at Duke's Center for Living where families, friends and volunteers gather to walk around the athletic track, and do laps in celebration and remembrance of loved ones that have undergone a stem cell transplant. There are many family-oriented activities scheduled throughout the morning, including carnival games, an inflatable slide, auction, Wall of Heroes with photographs, stories and memoirs of patients and families, group picture and a catered lunch. Duke was a pioneer in the development of cord blood as a source for hematopoietic transplantation. Many of the patients celebrated at the Walk have received a cord blood transplant. The Rainbow of Heroes Walk is an opportunity to celebrate the discoveries, leadership and innovation that have taken place at Duke, while highlighting Duke's mission to to provide excellent clinical care and to serve its patient population. Hosted by: Marcus Center for Cellular Cures (MC3) in collaboration with the Duke Pediatric Transplant and Cellular Therapy (PTCT) Division
